PRINCE OF PEACE: ICS’ Christmas Cantata Special ’08

Financial turmoil, massive layoffs, economic and political upheavals, hunger and famine, terrorism and genocide. These are the headlines confronting us this Christmas season. In no other time in recent history has man witnessed such chaos and strife.

In these times of uncertainty and worry, the “Prince of Peace” reminds us that there is hope for us all because on that first Christmas night, God has given us the One whose name shall be called “Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace” (Isa.9:6). And because of that we are assured that, for as long as we have made Jesus Christ the Lord of our lives, we will always have peace and joy, regardless of the circumstances that surround us.

This simple yet powerful cantata by Rodger Strader features songs that will surely touch our hearts as we once again witness the events that surround the birth of the Savior of the World. Share the tender moments of Joseph and Mary as they ponder the awesome responsibility God bestowed on them. Experience the majesty of the choir of angels as they announce the birth of Christ to the shepherds. And worship with the wise men as they kneel before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. ‘Celebrate His Glory!’ – ICS’ 2007 Christmas Special

What do you get when you pool together all the best and able resources of a church that has felt the stirrings of the Spirit anew?

You get a Christmas musical that is all heart, that’s what.

“Celebrate His Glory”, the ICS Christmas Special for 2007 is the labor of love by practically all of ICS – from the Men’s, Women’s, Young Adults, Youth, The Redeemed Stage, the Dance Ministry, the Hand Mimes, the Deaf, the kids and, yes, even the pastors.

Directed by Carrie Locsin from a script by Jen Legaspi, the musical extravaganza retells the timeless tale of Christmas from the living room of a father and his twin daughters. As the dad reads from Scripture to answer his daughters’ innocent inquiries, the Bible’s ancient pages cme to life all around them in music and dance.

Utilizing every active ministry and form of artistic expression available to her, Carrie has succeeded in painting a vivid, vibrant picture of the splendor of Christmas from ICS’ colorful ministerial palette.

Considering that the entire cast and crew necessitated the participation of practically everyone from ICS’ regular Sunday attendance roll, it was amazing to note that the ushers even had to add more chairs just to accommodate the viewers who had come to watch.

Though there were the usual technical annoyances (various electronic disturbances in the background, the music playing not loud enough at times, etc.) the production played out quite splendidly. Especially wonderful to behold was the grand finale, which showcased all the ministries in their best form.

Congratulations are in order for Carrie and the entire production team for such a job well done. Kudos too to Anne Grey, for her vibrant conducting of the choir.

All said, this year’s musical production has truly succeeded in causing one and all to “Celebrate His Glory!”

To Him be all the glory, honor and praise!
