He Said, She Said – “Step Up 2008”

By Paula Fuentes and Edgar Gomez, Jr.

Food, music, good fellowship, and lots of fun awaited the graduates and guests at CROSSLinC’s celebration to recognize the eight graduates in attendance – Edgar Gomez, Jr., Alyssa Danae Lacson, James Cauilan, Ma. Nenita Pagaoa, Joseph Vicencio, Reno Bunsoy, Israel Guy and Rose Dedel.

The program kicked off with them marching into the APTS room to the sound of a special number being sung live by Amiel Nagtalon and Abegail Bamo.

The emcees, Raechel Fuentes and Amiel, in their hip-hop attire, led the audience with games and songs of worship. It was truly an inspiring event as a message was given by our guest speaker, Pastor Rodel Lacson, for both the graduates and the other youth, reminding us that God has a specific purpose for us and has given us specific gifts just for this purpose. A film clip from the movie “Facing The Giants” and the funny yet encouraging testimony of Reno were the finishing touches.

Special gifts were given as a way of honoring the graduates, while their friends and family applauded them and proudly took pictures. Food and drink flowed afterwards as the program came to an end. Everyone left with their bellies full and their hearts uplifted.

Borrowing from the speaker’s words that afternoon, let me just say this: “Remember that God is committed to seeing his plans for each one of you to fulfillment.”

Congratulations to the graduates of 2008! – Paula Fuentes

Last Sunday, April 6, we in CROSSLinC held our “Step Up 2008” to commemorate our graduates. “Step Up” is an annual event wherein we congratulate our graduates from high school and college for finally completing an important academic part of their life. This is our second graduation event.

Without further ado, the graduates (myself included) put on their togas and were welcomed inside the A.P.T.S room with applause and music!

We all played a simple game (I don’t know what it’s called) to break the ice, involving each participant of the event to sign each others’ arms with their “wrong” hand. Afterwards we had our Praise and Worship, a standard but absolutely important part of our Youth events.

Pastor Rodel Lacson, ICS worship pastor, spoke to us about doing our best. He told us that God only wants what we have and doesn’t want us to deal with what we don’t. He just wants us to do our best. He even had a video clip to show to illustrate his point.

Lastly, we ate specially prepared meals for the youth! Yes, this event was a great one for there were a number of new members of our Youth Ministry. Should God grant it next year, our next batch of graduates’ graduation event will be even better than this one. – Edgar Gomez, Jr.
